Build it and they will come, right? It doesn't really happen like that. You will need to promote blog posts other places.
When it comes to blogs, you still have to let the people know you're there before they'll start reading your content. Quality content with strong keyword research and search engine optimization (SEO) can help bring traffic your way, but to really get your blog posts in front of readers you're going to need to do some promoting. The trouble is trying to decide where to promote your blog posts. You can post your links to Facebook all day long – but it's going to be really hard to get your blog in front of new eyes there.
Where to Promote Blog Posts:
Of course, Pinterest. Pinterest is a search engine with a social touch. You can create or join communities through group boards. Pinterest's messaging system and ability to send pins to others allows you to engage with other pinners just as you would on another social channel. Additionally, Pinterest acts as a search engine — and a popular one at that. Pinterest remains one of the top three most used search engines, right behind Google.
Members use Pinterest to research products, ideas, tutorials, recipes, you name it. If there is something you can teach your readers then Pinterest is likely the way to get it in front of their eyes. And, of course, if you're using Pinterest then you need Tailwind.
Quora
Quora is a question-and-answer site that is community-based. Users are encouraged to share their knowledge about everything. What makes Quora great is the sheer number of people asking for answers — answers you probably have. Go in, sign up, and start engaging with the community by answering the questions you can. And wherever possible, post a link to your blog (presuming, of course, that the content of your blog post is relevant to the question you are answering).
Quora not only helps build traffic but can help you quickly establish your authority. And if you don't have the answers written up in a blog post just yet, Quora doubles as a source to help you find content ideas and get you writing.
Slideshare
With a few simple tweaks and a couple of edits, you can turn any blog post into a slideshow presentation and publish it to Slideshare. Because Slideshare is owned by LinkedIn, it is another place where you can quickly build your authority. Millions of entrepreneurs and professionals turn to Slideshare to learn about a given topic through a quick, concise presentation.
Technorati
Technorati is a blog search engine. Submitting your site is easy and free. Your ranking within their system is determined by a unique set of algorithms that measures the overall quality of your blog: the higher quality your blog content is, the higher your individual posts will rank within their system.
Inbound
Inbound is a large and growing community of high quality, professional bloggers. Joining is free, but the quality of your content has to be high quality to be considered for inclusion. Any article you post that you believe has the potential of going viral should definitely be shared there.
