Hi, my name is Laura and I am a crochet designer.
I started knitting and crocheting at the age of 13 when I was in junior high school. There was one girl that knew how to make a granny square, it was the 70's, and taught all of the girls in class how to make one. I picked it up quickly and then taught myself to knit.
For years I knit and crocheted for friends and family. In my 40's I started doing craft shows. I just made what I liked. After a while I narrowed down the field to baby items and stuffed animals.
When I was in my 50's my oldest grandson asked me to make him a Perry the Platypus. I couldn't find a pattern that I liked so I designed my own. I found that I had a gift for turning a picture into a three dimensional piece.
In 2011, I used my imagination and designed my first Inkie. I now have over 70 different designs. I have a notebook filled with design ideas so I don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon.
It doesn't matter how old you are, you can do something new at any age.
